[Tiasalle and Braveheart]

Arithia swept down a long vine from her relatively lower nest-basket and surprisingly landed on Blazetail's back. The 30-ft-long Afrovenator swung her head around and saw the amused face of Arithia staring back. Blazetail shook her head and asked in a rumbling voice, "I can never get used to your surprises, Arry"
Arithia laughed as she slid down Blazetail's muscular leg and landed gracefully on the leafy floor. "Relax, Blaze, I didn't expect it, either"
"Well if you want a ride to wherever you're going, don't hesitate to get back on" Blazetail said
Arithia smiled and patted her partner's shoulder, "I think I can walk to the barn from here, Blazetail, even though it's a whole ten yards away"
Arithia groaned sarcastically, then laughed and ran ahead, leaving the Afrovenator to catch up to the skipping sixteen-year-old girl in two quick bounds. Arithia let Blazetail pass her, then grabbed the saurian's long, whip-like tail for which her friend was named after. She scrambled to her back and leaned on her friend's strong neck lazily. Blazetail stopped abruptly, causing Arithia to slide off the Saurian's neck and land on a pile of leaves. Blazetail then picked the girl up by the collar of her shirt and carried Arithia in that way to the barn, where Arithia was being taught to commune with the Saurians in the Deeper Language.

ooc: Anyone who wants to join, can! What I'm thinking about for this RP, is that an arrogant, out-of-control dolphinback could escape the Razor Reef and tell his father, who is some world-leader, about Dinotopia and that country would try to conquer Dinotopia...

A boy named Defyus was also learning to communicate with saurians. He was amazed at what he was learning. Soon he would be able to fully communicate with them.

A girl walked into the room. She seemed happy to be there ans was ready to learn the saurian language.

The next thing the boy knew, a boy walked in behind the girl. He, on the other hand, didn't seem to happy to be there. He didn't seem happy at all. He was definitely a dolphinback and for whatever reason, was adjusting poorly to his new life as a Dinotopian.

Defyus wondered what the boy would do, hopefully he wouldn't try to ruin the current language learning session.

Arithia looked behind her at the boy that was tailing her in her entrance to the barn. He was obviously not happy, with his arms crossed, his eyebrows in a deep furrow. She sat next to another boy she knew was named Defyus and crossed her legs, trying to concentrate on the lesson. However, the other boy's mumblings kept her concentration away from the lesson and kept ruining her train of thought. She finally turned and whispered kindly, "What's your name?"
"Harry" the boy replied sullenly
"Breath deep, Harry, I'm Arithia" Arithia held out her hand in the token of friendship.
Harry rolled his eyes and looked away, mimicking Arithia's voice in a very immature manner. Arithia shrugged and turned back to the lesson, her attention now enraptured in its contents.

ooc: So glad to have someone reply, Fermire! Thanks for introducing the boy, I hope we agree on the name, it just popped into my head when I wrote this entry. Lol!

OOC: The boy's name is fine with me.

Defyus had watched as Harry had rudely mimicked Arithia. Unlike Arithia, however, Defyus wasn't going to just let it go.

"Hey, apologize to Arithia," Defyus told Harry.

The boy ingored him and continued to stare forward into space.

"You must not have heard me. Apologize to Arithia - please."

The boy turned to Defyus and said, "You don't tell me what to do, I do what I want to do. My father will find me and then I'll be able to get out of this dump."

Defyus was shocked at the amount of malice in the boy's voice. Most dolphinbacks took a while to adjust to living in Dinotopia, but most eventually adjusted to living there. Apparently this dolphinback wasn't going to be the case.

Arithia touched Defyus's shoulder, "It's alright, it doesn't bother me, really"
Defyus smiled at Arithia, but shook his head at Harry. Arithia sighed, this dolphinback was obviously going to be a problem.

When the class ended, Arithia went back outside to Blazetail, but got shoved rudely out of the way by a malicious Harry. She got up and dusted herself off when a huge mass of muscle and scale skid in front of Harry and growled terrorizingly. Blazetail stuck her face in front of Harry's and warned in fluent Dinotopian, "Don't touch Arithia again like that or you will have me to answer to"
Arithia slapped her hand against her forehead, what had gotten into Dinotopia? Arithia was certain that if people would simply love Harry for who he was, he would have an easier time adjusting to the Dinotopian way of life.
However, that was not what the case turned out to be...

Rex jumped down from over head and landed next to Arithia and Blazetail looking at Harry showing his weapon some "Harry, these rounds are not ment for killing anymore, i use them as warning shots, but dont tempt me got it, now i was like u when i came here, just as hot headed as u, but one thing that is different, ur the son of world power, i was once the leader of powerful people that would crush any army that stood in our way, and btw, i tried crossing that reef and this is what it gave me" he lifts of his shirt some on his right side showing a long jaged scar "thats from the reef, if it was not for Skybax rider, i'll be dead by now, just fair warning, theres always a place for people here in Dinotopia, as me, i'm a leader and warrior, so i stick to the Rainy Basin and help out people that travel through there"

Arithia sighed as she watched Harry roll his eyes and stomp away. Blazetail nudged her shoulder, "Are you alright?" she asked
"Yeah" Arithia replied, "Just a little frustrated, that's all. Come one, we're needed in the field" she jumped onto Blazetail's lowered back and turned to Rex, the young man that had stood in her defence, "Thank you, Rex, I appreciate it. Uh, could you possibly tuck away your weapon, it makes me a little nervous. Who knows who could be flying up in the sky at this time?"
She waved as Blazetail trotted off towards the fields and caught a glimpse of Defyus exiting the barn, not exactly the happiest camper in the world.

Arithia tied the last bundle of wheat for the day and shifted her shade hat. Blazetail picked it up and tossed it into a cart behind her, "Well, that marks the half-way point" she said, she sniffed and growled
Arithia turned and saw none other than Harry approaching her. He snorted haughtily at Blazetail, then presented Arithia with a bouquet of wildflowers. Arithia was stunned, hadn't her just pushed her into a wooden board that morning? "I have come to apologize and ask if you would like to come swimming with me. You know, get away from these scalies and their lovers. Get to know some real people"
Arithia glowered, "What did you just call Blazetail?"
Harry dropped the bouquet at his side and sighed in exasperation, "It's not like they have feelings, you know. Don't go wasting affection on something that can't love you back"
Arithia smiled, anger twitching at the tips of her lips, "Thank you for that helpful bit of advice. Good bye, Harry" She walked to the cart, sat down on its wooden seat, and said in Blazetail's language, "Let's go home"

ooc: I hope that didn't sound too self-complimentary. It's kind of based on one of my stories I wrote a while ago tha got erased on the computer...

he drops his pack and straps his weapon to the top of it covering it some and walks around Tree Town some looking for a place to stay for the night with no luck, finaly he finds a place at the base of a tree and drops his grear and grabs blanket out of his pack leans up against the tree and falls asleep

During the entire conversation, Defyus had been hanging back to see how the situation would unfold. Harry certainly seemed to have a change of heart in the end. Whether or not Arithia believed him was another matter. Rex seemed like a nice enough guy, except for the fact that he carried around a weapon. It was supposed to be a law in Dinotopia that weapons were enemies, even to their owners.

After the confrontation was over, Defyus decided to follow Arithia back to her home. It wasn't because he wanted to stalk her or anything like that. Instead, he felt a similar need as Rex had felt, to ensure that she stayed safe.

If Harry had anything of a split personality, he could likely revert back to his old ways again. Following carefully behind Arithia as she made her way back to her house for the night, Defyus was careful not to be seen for two reasons. One, he didn't want Arithia to know that he was spying on her and two, he wanted to make sure that if Harry showed up for anything other than a peaceful reason, Defyus would have the elemnt of surprise.

With that in mind, Defyus continued to keep a close eye on Arithia as she made her way back to her house in Treetown.

The sun kept pulling at Arithia's eyes to open, but they refused. The girl pulled her blanket over her head, but someone pulled it completely off her body. Arithia snapped awake and looked around. Blazetail was sniffing at the girl's hair, "Do you know how long you've slept in?" she asked
Arithia moaned, "I don't want to get up, thank you"
"It's that Harry guy, isn't it." It was a statement more than a question
"Yeah. He's such a rolled-up scroll! I can't make head nor tail out of him." She flopped back onto her bed, although all sense of sleep had left her.
Blazetail snorted, "For the first time in my life, I don't like him"
"Why? Because he mimicked me during class, then pushed me into a wooden board, then handed me flowers and asked if I wanted to get away from you?" Arithia asked
Blazetail shook her head, "No, although those facts do run my scales backward. It's something else, something that tells me he means harm to Dinotopia"
"What dolphinback doesn't tell you that?" Arithia asked, although she did have to admit that she had never gotten the message so strong from an individual before
Blazetail shook her head, "The hatchlings named Rex and Defyus are wanting to know if you are alright, it is almost noon-feast and no one has seen you yet"
Arithia bounced out of bed, "It's really that late?! Oh, man!" she slammed on some clothes and ran outside, her face burning with humiliation.
Arithia Jensen NEVER slept in. Period. She almost ALWAYS woke up before most of Tree Town. In desperation to get out of her house, she ran headlong into Rex. "Oof" they grunted, "Sorry" Arithia said as she stood and helped him up, "I wasn't looking where I was going"
"Hey! Arry!" Arithia looked towards the voice and saw Defyus. Something she loved about Dinotopia was that everyone seemed to care about the individual as well as the whole. She hoped and prayed that nothing would ever ruin that peace of mind.

Rex woke up and was just about to put his pack on when Arithia ran into knocking him over, he took her hand as she helped him up "no worry, it'll take more than that to hurt me, are u all right, so are u heading to chow or what ever u guys have here in Tree Town" he turns and faces Blazetail "how are my dino friend" he looks towards Defyus "hey u might as well come out of hiding, and as for the weapon, its the only thing i have left of my former life"

[Fermire]

Defyus thought that Rex wouldn't realize he had been spying on Arithia. Unfortunately, it looked like he had. Regardless, Arithia didn't seem to realize it and as long as that was the case, Defyus didn't care.

He walked out from behind the tree he had been hiding behind. Arithia seemed to have had a stressful night, he had always thought of her as a prompt, on time person. This day was apparently the exception.

With a smile on his face, Defyus asked, "If it would be alright with you, Rex and I can escort you to lunch, would that suit your needs?"

[Tiasalle and Braveheart]

Arithia blushed at all of the attention these young men were giving her. It seemed as if all of Dinotopia had come to her rescue from Harry. Blazetail nudged her, "Well, are you going to accept their offer or not?"
"Thank you, Defyus and Rex, I would appreciate it, if you don't mind, that is, Harry seems very strange." She laughed sheepishly, "In fact, I think he scares me and Blazetail can't always fit into the places I go." a thought struck her, "Do either of you have partners?" she asked curiously as they began to stroll to a well-known, homey restaurant.

Rex follows Arithia "as for the partner, u mean mate right, and i'm not as young as i look, i may look 21 but i'm much older than u think young one, but i do warn u, i can only eat meat"

Arithia laughed a little, "Oh no, I didn't mean a mate, I meant a Saurian Partner, like me and Blazetail are"

"well, in that, case, no not yet, i move around to much, and i haven't even been to the schools here to learn dino talk, i learned it on my travels around this place

[Fermire]

Fermire cringed at the thought of a saurian partner. If their was one dark blot in his past, that was it. He couldn't bring himself to go back to those memories.

At Arithia's question Fermire merely shook his head. He didn't want to talk about it. Please drop the issue, Fermire thought to himself.

Rex looks at him "lost someone also, i lost my mate 15 years ago, and i have yet to find another of that is the same or better than the one i lost"

takes the glove off his right hand showing them the mark of the dragon the was burned into his hand "she gave me this mark when we first met 30 years ago"

[Tiasalle and Braveheart]

Arithia cringed at the sorrow that was obvious in Defyus' face and Rex's comment about having lost his own mate. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be so blunt about it"
He smiled weakly and Blazetail piped up, "Oh look, we've arrived!" her voice lowered into a growl, "And look who's here"
Arithia didn't have to look up to know who it was, she didn't want to look up. Thankfully, Defyus thought quickly, "The harvest seems very fruitful this year, doesn't it?"
Rex caught on, "You bet! I have never seen so much grain!"
Arithia smiled at her friends, who could have asked for better?
