Breaking Barriers: Exploring Dinotopia!

Hitting shore!

It had been a long three days at sea for the crew of the Wave Runner, but at last they had arrived on the shores of the Dinotopian mainland, The Dromeasaurid crew aboard scrambled about trying their best to prepare everything, for the drop off and departure, of their lords and now ambassadors, Sire Falokar, and Lady Kestria, both of the outer island Red Talon clan. Ripper and Snapper currently stood on the deck as Falokar and Kestria made their way off board.

"Lord Falokar, are you sure you don't want an armed escort to acompany you?" Snapper asked, a slight tone of worry, and a hint for the longing of adventure in his voice.

Falokar shook his head, "We'll be fine Snapper, I already told you, I need you and Ripper to go back to Culebra and keep things running smoothly in my absence, if you need help or advice ask the elders, the should be able to point you the right way!

Snapper nodded, still seeming a little disappointed.

Falokar sighed, "Snapper it's like this, we're on a peaceful diplomatic mission, if we walk around with armed guards we'll be percieved as a threat, which is the last thing we want, besides I can handle myself and protect Kestria as needed, we're not totally helpless you know."

Snapper nodded, "Forgive me my lord, i meant no offenses to your honor or your skills"

Falokar waved a hand, "Just keep things going well on the outer island and we'll say no more about it alright?"

Snapper nodded saluteing Falokar, "Very well sir, I hope for your safe return"

Falokar nodded, "Same to you, I hope for your save travels... breathe deep Snapper, Ripper, crew of the wave runner"
All at once he recieved a "Seek Peace" in cheerful unison.

Falokar and Kestria gave a rather jauty wave fairwell then left, headed for Canyon city first, as their first primary city to vist. According to Falokar and Kestria's navigational prowess, it would take them three days time to get there by foot, which was fine, because it gave them time to build up their rep around the smaller areas first.

Falokar found that his and Kestria's first day of social interaction with fellow Dinotopians went rather... well, the humans accepted the two of them, with a few cautious looks, and the fellow saurians, though cautious thems selves kept a good nature about them, and only seemed better spirited once they head the intentions for Falokar's and Kestria's travels.

However things had not gone exactly as expected for the Falokar and his dearly beloved mate, as the two of them were entering a resturant, a pack of fellow dromeasaurs passed by on the way out, most of whom stopped giveing Kestria some rather, wanting looks, an action she had failed to pick up on, and one that Falokar had done his best to not worry about. It wasn't until later that evening when Falokar and Kestria were on their way to an Inn for the night that events began to get rather hairy.

The two of them had been walking along engaged in a rather fetching conversation about what attire to wear when adressing the mayor of Canyon City, and Elizabeth Dennison, when the pack from earlier began to circle in around them, Falokar thought little of this behaviour at first as circleing in was a natural action for dromeasaurs.... it wasn't until the Alphamale pack leader stepped in Falokar's way, that he realized there was really a problem.

"Heh, mighty fine female you have traveling with you friend" the alpha adressed to Falokar his voice sultry but smooth.....

Falokar nodded, "yep, she's one of a kind" He nuzzled her affectionately partially to show they were together and partially to tell the others to back off, in a rather polite way, "I don't mean to be rude, but we've been traveling most of the day and would like a good rest, so if you'd be kind enough to let us by so we can go to the inn..."

The Alpha laughed at him, "Aww isn't this sweet boys, the tyke here thinks he's in charge," he paused for a moment and chuckled "Adorable" He then began to circle around Falokar and Kestria, takeing extra care to take in all of Kestria's details before he spoke again, "Hmmm it seems to me, boy that you have with you, a female too fine to be designated to one male only.... So if you don't mind, We'll be haveing our share of her as well"
Falokar's attention and reflexes immediatly jumped, he turned on heel, poised to fight "Not a chance boys, you're gonna have to find some other way to entertain yourselves, Kestria is MY mate, and not a one of you is gonna do any more than so much as look at her"

The alpha backed up in faux surprise, "well well, he certainly seems to be serious.... let's show him what happens when you take on a full pack and threaten their leader"

Falokar grinned "Kestria take cover, I got this"

Kestria nodded, " Don't hurt them too much hon, after all they don't know any better"

The alpha looked between them, "Really now? Are you so confident that your pea brain has somehow led you to the dillousion that you can somehow win?"

Falokar laughed, "No, I know I can win... in fact it's acutally a bit un fair, you may want to get more guys over here to help you"

The alpha male growled and reared back, he quickly lunged forward slashing his claws at Falokar, who quickly caught him by the wrist and threw him into a dromeasaur from the back who was standing behind him

The Alpha male seemed slightly surprised by his sudden loss of balance and quick trip to the ground, but quickly regained composure... "GET HIM!" the raptor screamed as practically the whole pack of 10 began to advance on Falokar...
Falokar looked around judgeing each one for a certain level of skill, but what he failed to notice was the Alpha male sneaking off to go after Kestria by himself, in attepmts to have his way with her in private while Falokar was kept busy.

Kestria had taken to trying to hide near by so as to keep an eye on Falokar in case he needed help, in fact she was so caught up in makeing sure he was alright that she didn't even notice the Alpha male comeing up on her at first.... it was nearly too late when she did notice, for the snap of a twig brought her attention around behind her, just as he pounced, Luckily Kestria had been takeing lessons from Falokar and immediatly responded by rolling under him and kicking him away from her

The Alpha male seemed to be getting more and more upset with each moment he spent not haveing his way, and began to attack relentlessly in attempt to force her to submit to him...

Truth be told he was in fact very close to succeeding when a sudden occurance arrived to both him and Kestria both... it had become far too quiet...
Kestria looked behind the other raptor in time to see Falokar flying at him with a spinning heel kick... which landed sending the raptor into the wall of a nearby building, Falokar took no time in helping Kestria to her feet. The Alpha male raptor injured from the attacks, and insulted for having lost a fight to two much younger dromeasaurids, slinked away, embarassed and beaten, the rest off his pack... however had not been quite as lucky, as several were unable to move from the amount of injuries they had sustaned.

Falokar turned to Kestria nuzzleing her passionately and giving her a soft lick on the cheek, "Are you alright? Did he hurt you? Did he do anything else?"

Kestria shook her head, "I'm fine Falokar, I managed to keep him at bay, and luckily I managed to keep him away from and off of me for quite some time, at least nearly up until when you showed up, though it is a good thing you arrived when you did, had it been a few moment's longer and I'm sure he would have gotten his way..."
She looked about ready to either cry or kill something, Falokar wasn't sure which, but he was certain it was probably both...

Falokar wrapped a gentle loveing hand around her and hugged her close, "Shhh it's alright now Kestria, they're all gone, and I'm sure they won't bother you again, they'd be idiots to try... now come on, let's get to the inn and rest... we have a long day of travel ahead of us tomorrow"


With that the two of them headed to the small town inn, where they spent the rest of their night sleeping peacefully.

An Unexpected Meeting!

Falokar and Kestria had been on the road in Dinotopia for at least three to four days time now, the oasis scenery they had enjoyed on the shore towns had slowly begun to fade to golden fields of grain, and now of all things they were wandering what seemed like a nearly endless desert!

Falokar sat down on a near by boulder and unsholdered his satchel, pulling out a water cantine, Kestria took up a spot next to him and opened her back pack getting out a loaf of bread and two slices of meat which she evenly split between herself and Falokar.

Falokar offered Kestria some water in return which she took happily and swallowed a few mouthfulls, as Falokar used his keen dromeasaurian eyes to examine the horizon... surely they would be reaching a village any time soon, small villages in this area would usually be near a water source.... but... there wasn't a river in sight.

A slight breeze ruffled Falokar's and Kestria's feathers, both of whom welcomed the breeze, as a nice coolant from the overbearing sun.

Falokar sniffed the air... something smelled... different, he wasn't quite sure what it was but something was definatly in the air.... -That's it!- he thought, it WAS in the air, Falokar raised his gaze skyward to see a pair of quetzuquatolis or "Skybax" as they were commonly called in the Dinotopian mainland, circiling high above them.... Falokar squinted and then smiled..... something in the back of his mind told him that he knew at least one of those pilots!

Quickly Falokar stood up and began Flagging them down, "HEEEEYYYY! Down here you guys!"

Kestria looked at Falokar with a mix of confusion and oddity, just who was he talking to? She got her answer soon enough as the two Skybax landed a few yards away, a male and female pilot dismounted, approaching Falokar and Kestria...

The Female spoke first, "Who are you two? And what business do you have calling down the Skybax Patrol in this region?"

Falokar grinned, "Well that's a fine Howdy do, Mrs. Emil Dennison"

The female took her helmet off revealing shoulder length goldish brown hair, a look of confusion on her face... "Do I know you?" she asked voicing her confusion.

Falokar nodded, "I should hope so, you helped me out back about a year ago in the Rainy Basin, when I was tracking the renegade Tyrannosaur Pack... or do you not remember that?"

Emil's eyes suddenly lit up, "My word... surely you're not... Falokar?"

Falokar nodded, "Bingo!, it's good to see you havn't forgotten me."

Emil Dennison smiled, how could she, Falokar was a rare encounter, even amongst the world of Dinotopia, and she was wan of the few who had ever had the privilage of working with him... but that was back when he was in uniform, he seemed much more.... primal now

Falokar noticed her confusion and raised it to the topic, "Something wrong Emil?" he asked noticing her gaze was fixated on examining his armor...

Emil Dennison nodded, "It's just that... what happened to your uniform?"

Falokar nodded, feeling he should have realized that the Dinotopian mainland had yet to hear of his resignation from the D.C.M.A....
"I resigned from the agency, in order to be with my own kind.... now after the events that have brought disaster to the Outer Island's inhabitants my mate Kestria and Myself have decided it best to travel to the mainland on a mission of good faith, and to request aid to our inhabitants...."

Emil Dennison could hardly believe what she was hearing, "So wait.... you're living in a pack now? On the Outer Island... you were there?! During the whole ... Nicholai Sanders incident?" she seemed shocked that she hadn't seen him on the island, which truthfully wasn't all that unbelievable concidering a majority of the Outer Island was some part dromeasaurid.

Falokar nodded, "Not only that... I'm the Alpha Male now.... -he chuckled lightly- Turns out my dad was the former pack leader, and when he fell during the battle, he passed the leadership on to me... I'm pretty much in charge of the whole dromeasaurian clans, I kinda had to take charge after the eruption."
Kestria nodded behind him confirming what he said to be true.

Emil Dennison smiled... that was just like him, to take the lead in a crisis and bring a civilization back from near extinction... she somehow felt that his place was probably best being the head of the clans....and what was better? He was actually making an attempt at peace between the carnivores and herbavores of Dinotopia.... the idea seemed a bit farfetched, but... somehow seemed like an idea that might just work!

She nodded, "Alright, Sire Falokar, you have our support then, I take it with you wandering out around here, you're trying to find Canyon City?"

Falokar nodded, "We are... we just left Ebulon not but two days ago.... and the bus manager there pointed us this way, he said something about having to take the long way there since they were currently not roosting any Skybax...."

Emil nodded, "That sounds about right... well come on, we'll guide you... you weren't far from the city anyways, at least a good half miles walk but I think you should be able to manage that right?"

Falokar nodded, "We were just resting for a bit..." he stood up and streatched, looking at Kestria... "Ready to go Kestria?"

Kestria nodded and shouldered her bag, "Ready as ever... let's push on, if we keep a steady pace we should be there by evening meal."

Emil Dennison nodded, "That's very perceptive of you... Kestria was it? And you Falokar's mate?" She smiled... the two of them did look rather cute together... "Congradulations to the both of you, we can talk more during evening meal... for now though we'd better get moving before the sand tribes start becoming active."

And with that Emil Dennison and her wingman took to the skies leading Falokar and Kestria gradually on the way to Canyon City.
