I been thinking...

I have been thinking of the maladies and injuries that could happen to dinosaurs in Dinotopia. What if a hatchling got injured before he was born, causing a permanent brain defect, a handicap that he would have to deal with for the rest of his life? There has been one in the chapter books, 'Survive!'; and he was named Tostri, a Dromeosaur who was born deaf. What if another dinosaur had an accident, falling from his nestbox in a hatchery to the floor; and this caused him to have brain damage, twitching and shouting like someone with Tourettes syndrome? How would this little one cope with his handicap, along with the constant jeering from his peers?...

Name: Barnabas (Changed from 'Dumpty'.)

Species: Lambeosaur

Gender: Male

Age: 15

Appearance: Barnabas looks just like any other Lambeosaur: irregular crested head, longish mooslike face, bipedal saurian form and striped tan and brown hide. The one thing that seperates him from any other Hadrosaur is his behavior, which is a life of uncontrolable twitches, bobs, and jerks; and he tends to bellow and shout at irregular intervals for no reason at all. This is due to his injury attained at birth, rendering his brain permanently damaged.

Skills: Reguardless of this, he is highly intellegent and extremely caring to the point of being overbearing. He is a performer of tasks, whether it be delivering a message, pulling a cart or rescuing someone from danger.

Posessions: He tends to wear colorful shawls, an amulet around his neck and carries a short staff to assist him in walking. Carries a small sack which holds the medicines he needs to help control his malady.

Biography: Barnabas was born of strange conditions indeed. At Romana hatchery, he was one of twenty eggs there at the time. Near the end of his incubation there, he began to shake in his egg on his nest; doing it so violently he fell out of the box onto the floor. The attendants there were too late to catch him, but they did everything they could to save his life. When he hatched the next day, they noticed something strange about him: he would lay there twitching and cry and wail for no reason. It was determined that he had brain damage from the fall, and it would no doubt be with him his entire life.

His nursery and schooling were pure disasters; and he had to partake private and specialised tutoring. The children, both human and saurian, who were his peers, shunned and ridiculed him; berating him just because he was different. He was found to have an extremely high intellegence despite his handicap, and grew to excell in his schooling; even though his heart ached for acceptance from everyone, he endeavored to please everyone he met. His whole life has been one of shame as he fought this malady, learning to control it and being teased by peers that were meaner then the understanding ones...
