High Tech Dolphinbacks

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in an rp where the foreigners actually make it to Dinotopia intact. It basically goes like this:

The year is 2023. The United Nations has diverted the funding from the Mars missions to sea explorations due to failed attempts in 2018 and 2021. Several Submarines have been reinforced to withstand the pressure of the ocean floor and and storms out at sea. One such vessel has entered the Polynesian seas and has been sent to investigate strong magnetic field...

That's as far as I've got.

So maybe four or more people would be good. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

You can be up to two/three characters- but you can't be all three choices:

Crew member: one of the researchers/ technicians/ military members aboard the Beagle (after the ship Charles Darwin was on ;D)

Native: one of the human
Dinotopians

Saurian: Dinosaur or other species indigenous to Dinotopia

Personality: Serious, however will do anything for his crew
Effects: Laptop, Random DVDs (or what ever they'll use in 15 years), and a Desert Eagle handgun.

How you ended up on the island: Not there yet; Haverson entered an officer academy after going to college as a marine biologist. After being born in the United States, his family moved back to Ireland shortly after .after completing high school Elias went back to his original home to go to college where he was at the top of his class. After completing officer school, he was soon appointed Captain of the explorer submarine, the Beagle.

Earth, Air or Water: Water (duh! )

After looking at the map in TWB, I think they'll land via Polongo Fan (the mouth of the Polongo River if you don't have the book or the map from the official site. This due to the need for a body water for the Beagle to travel through.

Posessions: He is a cargo cart driver and partial owner of the Polongo Trading Company, out of the outpost of Spiker. he owns a small building in town that doubles for thier shipping company as well as a multi-family abode. He and his wife, Elane, have had two daughters and a son in the sixteen years they were married (Elinore 14, Jamie 9, and Alan 2.).
Appearance: Outwardly he looks like someone that is helpless: portly form, unopposing face of plain features, balding dirty blonde hair, and dresses in garb poorly kept. Inwardly he is full of mirth and strengths of the heart. Wise and gentle, yet often given to violent bursts of emotion; he is an enigma to his Partner, Oxidia.

Species: Parasolophus
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Posessions: Co-owns the Polongo Shipping Company, along with her Partner, her mate and his family of humans. Both own a number of carts and the building they do business out of.
Appearance: Oxidia was named thusly because her colors resembled the rusts of several different kinds of metal: Greens of copper, Blues of silver, reds of iron and Browns of bronze. Hers is a bubbly yet serious adititude, not knowing what someones' intentions are and wondering why. She is well meaning and sweet, but holds a vengance for anyone who has wronged her.

The thing is I didn't want one person controlling what happens if it should go slow (RamdomUserinme: His crewmember! Hi Saurian! Hi Native person! Let's all go to water fall city and leave everyone else behind because we haven't consulted them!-All march toward road while other characters unwilling follow-)

Appearance: He is tall with the face like a bow of a ship; dark haired with greying on sideburns and goatee. Muscular and strong, but would hardly hurt a fly. Can tell when someone is lying, but goes along with it unless the lie is meant to financially deceive him.
Posessions: Co-owner of Polongo shipping Company. Single, but his partner (Barnabas) is not. Owns two of the seven carts in the company, and all things present in his section of the building he, his Partner and co-owners live in.

Appearance: at 14 feet tall, he is only a foot taller than his mate (Oxidia); and he is lighter in color than she, though he posess the same patterns of coloration. Often given to flights of illogic, but this is what Oxidia thinks is his most endearing trait.
Posessions: Shares the Polongo Shipping Company with his mate, Partners and thier families. In charge of obtaining extra workers as needed for cargo runs.

I'll probably be putting the beginning up once I decide what I want to keep and what I want to scrap (cant have everything )

I have a Dinotopia fanfic on ToP (Empire of the carnivores - Parts 1 and 2 so far!) and three (Not dino related) on the fanfic and poetry section this board.

anyway, back on topic- I've been looking into submarine anatomy and such. Fortunately, a modern sub will only have around 8 crew members, but the US Navy currently forbids women on their submarines!

another thing is that I can't find the best submarine class yet, and with this rp being 17 years in the future I might just make one up

I found several sites describing submarines online (Some government sponsored!), they tell of the inner workings of some subs. Perhaps you could combine what you find and create the Beagle like you want it!

Here's some things to think about:

Nuclear sub?
Diesel/electric?
Other?... how about fusion powered?
Any special color, paint job?
Length? Width? Height?
Crew?
Sub layout?
Specail propulsion? Hydro jet (Like a jet-ski.)?
Weapons/missiles?
Radios? Other communication? Radar, ect?
Controls?
Other equipment?

(Need help? I can try to describe one to you!)

Oh!
You want something that's a cross between the Nautilus and the starship Enterprise!
Stuff like that can work (What's that sub called on 20,000 leagues under the sea? How about that sub on Voyage to the bottom of the sea?)
Actually, most military subs these days are pretty high-tech. Sure they use conventional propulsion and are built for war; but thier control rooms are extremely modern...

I am truly sorry with my lack of commitment in the past few months to this site. Things have been so busy, and if it weren't for the few active posters I probably wouldn't have the chance to apologize for lacks of visits since... I think April. So before I move on, I'd like to if anyone at all would still be interested in this, because if not I don't mind and if so I think that's great. If so though, I think I've got enough here to actually start. Once again sorry about inactivity and I will try on focusing to contribute more to one of my favorite forums .

I just had a conversation(Well, a few weeks ago)with this guy that used to be assistant admiral for Naval operations in WWII! He commanded the whole sub fleet back then, and on thru Korea, Viet Nam and retired about 20 years ago. I told him about this RP, and he said he'd find some unclassifyed stuff on subs for me! Hasn't gotten back to me yet, but he might get photos or blueprint drawings of insides of subs for me.
