I had this idea come out of my head one day. You know how we now have waterproof cameras, submarines and satellite gps? What if: A scientific research team actually stumbled upon Dinotopia without there ship blowing to smithereens? Just being realistic here. According to World Beneath, people have gotten off in before, and Crab almost made it off in that Strutter/Submarine. Say there was a submersible that could navigate through the reef? I didn't mean to smash any of the Dinotopia spirit, if the idea's terrible (or good) please let me know .

I'm not sure exactly, what you are getting at... Are you asking if people can get on and off of the island with GPS and cameras?

I thought about that too. I think what he/she means is what if someone made a machine that could get off and on the island at will? Like a submarine, earth-boring device or some other kind of vehicle... (My neat vehicle would hover above the waves and have a forcefield that deflected the storms and lightning!) *Shields up, mister Sulu!*(...LOL!)

Ok, in TWB, the people who came to and from the island came from Posidos (Atlantis) witch was at that time connected to America and Europe.
I do believe it would be possible to maneuver a submervessle out of the reef. In one of the paperback books (possibly Dolphin watch?) the dolphins take a boy through the reef to rescue someone who was shipwrecked. The dolphins are the only ones who know the way in and out.
If you could follow the dolphins in a sub, through the maze of tunnels in the reef (if the tunnels are large enough for a sub) you could probably make it out.

Cool idea. But what I meant was if an outside expidition for geological/ biological/ ect found it but they'd all be intact because they're underwater and they'd probably have a digital map of the sea floor. If it was biology the sub and research team might follow the dolphins. Either way the end up on Dinotopia accidently without harm (hopefully). I least I'm pretty sure the opposite cuold work.
