It was from the faces of a hundred leaves that Loudcrest Breaktether's own slender head emerged to look on the outskirts of a great and wonderful city. The heat here was tremendous and relaxing, its steam liquifying and running in rivulets down the Parasaurolophus' striped and patterned body.
The ten-metre long male squinted his eyes briefly against the midday sun, with only his head and chest exposed from the underbrush. Here smelled of city. Of humans. Of dinosaurs. Of life. Loudcrest stood erect for a moment to survey the landscape before allowing himself to fall to all fours, his smaller forelegs catching his weight with grace and ease and his many rings on his crest's membranous fan tinkling and sparkling in the sunlight.
It had been a long and treacherous journey since the respectable creature had left the small village of Anaptra, a loose collection of perhaps seven or eight families and most certainly not on any maps. He had successfully evaded a mated pair of Carnotaurs and warded off a pack of Megaraptors, fortunately not adding any new scars to the repertoire he displayed on his sides.
Loudcrest lowered his head slightly as he pulled himself from the jungle's many leafy fingers, the scent of their flowers still heavy in his nostrils. The Hadrosaur in the middle of his prime took his first step into a new experience, his foreleg's flat, hoof-like claws splaying out on the healthy soil. Lifting his head into a graceful and confident curve, he headed towards the pathway which headed to a bustling bazaar.
Humans bustled about and kicked up dust on the paths, Saurians following close at hand. Children frolicked on much further on the path; Where Loudcrest was now was much too close to the jungle's grips for them. Perhaps he ought to seek out a Human to bond with? But first, a dwelling, and a good meal, and good conversation was much in order.
