* Descendants of a shipwreck from New York in the 1800's, they land on Dinotopia, totally cut off from the rest of the island. They establish Blackhaven in the Rainy Basin, and are continually harassed by Tyranosaurs. Thier wooden walled city is all they know, and are afraid to travel far from it. Logan is thier leader, and runs Blackhaven with an extreme air of superstitious paranoya - nothing good can possibly be out there, and only fools go beyond the walls!
That soon changes - but far from easilly - when they discover the injured Carl Scott near one of the traps they set in the surrounding forest to ward off the 'Monsters'. Carl is imprisoned until his father, the mayor, LaSage and David come to rescue him; and are promptly imprisoned as well! Reluctantly, Logan conceeds that there is good out there after all, and welcome these newcomers when they install a Sunstone in Balckhaven to ward off the Tyranosaurs.
