Nephelium Lappaceum: (Rambutan)

Medium sized tropical tree perhaps originating in Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The tree is hermaphroditic - there are male as well as female trees. Reddish fruit mass is covered with fleshy, pliable spines. On Dinotopia it grows exceptionally well in the Northern Plains.
