Sapindaceae Acer: (Maple trees)

refers to a class of trees and shrubs containing 125 species native to Asia, Europe, northern Africa and North America. The sap on some species can be made into a sweetener, and the leaves of some species are highly nutritious. They are found all over Dinotopia, but prevail mostly in the Rainy Basin, the Northern Plains, the backbone Mountains and grow to gigantic proportions in the environs of treetown.
