This flowering tree grows in the West Indies and southern regions of North America. There are over 1,000 varieties, and most have not been cataloged, nor their indigenous locations found. This species grows mainly in the northern Coastal Plain, and can also be found in marshy areas of the Rainy Basin. These flowers are often used in various celebrations.
