Arecales Arecaceae: (Palm tree)

A family of flowering, treelike plants containing over 202 different genera with around 2000 species. They are one of the most well known and extensively cultivated plant families, and had an important role in human history. Their growth is restricted to tropical and subtropical regions around the globe; and may have been one of the first 'castaways' on Dinotopia. Therefore, they are found mainly in the Northern Plains.
