Name: Fermire Haswell
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Location: Just arrived, on the seashore.
Personality: Inquisitive, like to explore and to learn more. I'm particularly interested in exploring the land and find out all the information I can about Dinotopia. I also have a keen interest in technology, which there is an apparent lack of, on the island.
Effects: A noteboook and pen to write with, MRE's galore, a pocket knife and a backpack.
How you got there: My father was a scientist who was working alongside the U.S. military to penpoint the location of a mysterious oceanic anomaly. My father and the military had known for quite some time about this mysterious spot in the middle of the ocean. They had said that it was worse than the Bermuda triangle. Twice as many ships that went into this area never came out, as compared to the Bermuda triangle. My father, a renounded scientist and my mother, along with the military decided to undertake a joint operation to try and determine the cause of those mysterious anomalies. Seeing as I would be left in America with my grandparents, I begged my father to let me come with him. Finally my father relented. The mission was planned for that afternoon, so I hastily grabbed my notebook and a pen (which I use to write everything in) and my pocket knife. Upon arriving at the ship, my father, the careful person that he is, stuffed my backpack, which I had also brought along, with tons of MRE's. As we arrived in the area of the anomalies, the instruments on our vessel went wacko. They started pointing south when it was actually north and they told us we were 10,000 feet under the ocean, which we knew wasn't true. Suddenly the ship began to rock back and forth violently. Before we knew it, the ship was leaning heavily to its side. If it hadn't been for the fact that I was inside the navigation cabin, I would have likely tumbled out of the ship and into the sea. The ship sooon capsized and was completly upside down. In the next few seconds the water had yet to fill the cabin, which was still pressurized. My father signaled that I should grab ahold of a lifebuoy. In the second after I had done as my father had said, the cabin windows burst and water surged into the cabin area. I was swept off of my feet and, still clinging to the lifebuoy, hurtled out of the ship and into the frigid waters surrounding it. For many moments all was a blur, a swirling haze of water and foam. The seconds seemed to take forever to pass. I struggled to hold my breath , while at the same time try to hold onto the lifebuoy. Suddenly I surged upward and found myself floating above the water, gasping for breath. Miraculously, I had not suffered any kind of injury, unless, shortness of breath counted. just ahead of me, was an island, so large, that I couldn't see the other side of it, much less, see around it. Removing the lifebuoy, I swam the short distance required to arrive on the shore of the beach. Looking back at the ocean, no sign of any other life could be spotted. The ship I had rode on had long sank beneath the ocean floor. No other survivors could be found. So there I was, stranded on an island, with no idea where in the world I was. At least the military had been kind enough to give me a waterproof backpack, so all of my MRE's, my pocket knife and my notebook and pen, were nice and dry inside, while I was soaking wet outside. That is how I arrived on Dinotopia, though, I didn't know it was called that at the time.
